Susan Jayne Hocking
Susan Jayne Hocking (B. 1962, England)British artist Susan Jayne Hocking was
born in 1962 in Dorset; she attended Bristol Polytechnic where she did her
B.A in 1985. After a postgraduate diploma Hocking went on to a postgraduate
degree at the Royal Academy Schools between 1987 - 1990. During this time,
Hocking participated in exhibitions such as Ten Young Artists at the Mall
Gallery, Women in Art at the Bowmoore Gallery, London, Tabernacle Gallery,
London and Blenheim Gallery, London among others.Susan Jayne Hocking
continued to exhibit at many notable galleries, both in London and
worldwide. Including the Nomadic Zone Gallery, Berlin, France and Spain,
the New Grafton Gallery and the Waterhouse Group & R.B. Sandell. Whilst
annually continuing to have work selected into the Royal Academy Summer
Exhibitions, Susan Jayne Hocking regularly exhibits with the Kings Road
Gallery.Her latest collection entitled, 'A Walk with the Maasai', are works
influenced by Hockings recent travels to Tanzania and Zanzibar in Africa, in
which she studied migrating zebra crossing the Serengeti. Prior to her
safari, Susan Jayne Hocking had limited interest in big cats; however, on
completion of her travels, she attained a greater sense of understanding and
compassion for the creatures. She attributes the time she saw her first
cheetah as a truly breathtaking moment, one that inspired her to capture its
essence.
