Pauline Bewick - Seven Ages Exhibition
Because her Mother, Harry, had the foresight to preserve her early works, Pauline Bewick is perhaps unique amongst Irish artists in that now, as she is 70, has access to her entire lifetime in pictorial and other artistic formats.
Bewick has selected approximately 600 of these works, to form the SEVEN AGES EXHIBITION. While this represents the various ages of any woman’s life - from childhood, school, adolescence, through work, motherhood, travel, maturing years etc - it does so specifically by reflecting the seven decades of one woman’s life - the artists’ own.
Four hundred works have been gifted by the artist to the State, which consists of two collections, one to be housed at the Walton Building, Waterford Institute of Technology and the second to be housed in the County Council Offices in Kilorglin, Co. Kerry.
The remaining two hundred works will be known as the travelling collection, and will form the third part of Pauline Bewick 7 Ages. The intention would be that this collection would travel to Europe and beyond from 2007 onwards. It’s purpose is to promote Pauline Bewick on an international level and in turn highlight the two permanent collections in Kerry and Waterford.
